Quick Overview:
India had it's make in SUV best in the class from TATA motors in January,2019. It's been like TATA is telling to it's rival "Guys, this is my segment and I'll rule it"! Being muscular and having strong road presence Harrier fulfills the customers wish and demands more revs💨. But due to limited variants and engine on offer other company took the advantage of it. But as TATA always listens to it's customers they reviewed the customers suggestion and make changes based on that. Also Harrier get it's few more features that Indian customers always looks for it during a car purchase. And within a year TATA delivers 2020 Harrier to Indian car market. Front sight:
As there are no such major changes to front but gets slight treatment of chrome finish at around the borders. ORVM are slightly adjusted based on customer suggestion in order to remove the blind spont that early created in 2019 BS4 Harrier. In 2020 it gets the BS6 engine in it due to which the engine becomes silent. There are tweaked made to engine to get 170HP💪 out the engine as well during different modes of driving.
The XZA+ variants get the dual tone treatment and also new colour option of Calypso Red. As the Harrier is built on the Ωarc platform which is again derived from the Land Rover D8 platform which speaks about the safety of car won't get compromised and also in the terms of Technology proof.
Powerful Kryotec engine comprised of 2.0 Litre Turbo-Diesel only (We want petrol variant also @ TATA😕) you'll feel like you're driving a Jeep Compass in terms of power and punchiness on offer. Normal alloy wheels are now updated to Diamond cut wheels as well.
Interior Insights:
Starting from driver side door you'll read Ωarc downside. The driver seat is 6-way adjustable. Interior is same but again chrome highlights are done there also. One of the demands of Indian customers is fulfilled to have a 6-speed Automatic gearbox. There is massive panaramic sunroof where it closes automatically when user step outside of the car, Anti-Pinch function and closes when it senses rains. Talking about IRVM it gets auto-dimming function in 2020 year based on past customer siggestion (TATA actually hear their customer😊). Rear are comfortable and fatigue free during long drives even from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Fuel capacity is still same of 50 litres. Driving modes like Eco, Sport-mode, Wet, Off-road, City mode are there so you can enjoy every moment of your road journey.
Driver's talk:
Manual and Automatic gearbox of 6-speed is designed in such away that you won't feel that much trouble. In fact you can have more revs on redline gears won't change immediately like 2020 Hyundai Creta. It tells you "Bro, enjoy at red"! Engine is more refined and silent due to BS6 update. There are some minor update in manual gearbox as well.
But talking about cons when we drive as slow as on around 1000RPM there is delay in gear indicator on the display while downshifting. So there is where for somewhat of time we can have confusion in between gears. Also when switching to manual mode automatically Harrier chooses sport mode there. Also the steering wheel is bit heavy and can cause you some what problem when you're taking 3-point turn.Users over the internet also mentioned the Brake and clutch travel is bit longer than usual cars.
Tata has also worked upon the NVH level of the vehicle to reduce the noise. But some noise is still filtered inside the cabin. The automatic gearbox is inspired from the Hyundai Tucson. Clutch is progressive now but travel of clutch is made long as said previously.
Infotainment system:
Pratap Bose and his team at TATA beautifully created this creature that offers you the JBL 9 speakers in top and 6(4 speakers and 2 tweeter) in lower variants. Extra USB slot is provided under the armrest and some minor tweak in placement of front USB is done as well. Express opening of sunroof is done so you don't have to wait more.
First thing first talking about airbags, 6 airbags are provided on top variant and 2 airbags as standard on other lower variants. ESP is provided standard on all the variants. Safety is not compromised at all in TATA it gets 5-star NCAP ratings.
Verdict:
So Whether you are buying your 1st SUV or 2nd or 3rd....... you've to consider this beast SUV before buying and I'm sure you'll not regret end up buying this creature to your home happily.
